Having spent over 22 years’ as a graphic designer (both employed and self-employed), I have worked for some of the world’s largest corporations and globally-renowned firms, within a range of educational establishments, for numerous SMEs and in the tourism industry. I have worked extensively within corporate brand guidelines and for clients with minds inside and outside the box!
Prior to this I had a successful career in quantitative market research analysis – needless to say, the experience and knowledge I gained during this time has stood me in good stead throughout my design and marketing career.
I begin a project by understanding my client’s requirements. The brand’s personality, tone of voice, objectives, target audience and competitors are all evaluated to ensure a point of difference is created. I strive to create outstanding work that is distinctive, engaging and above all, memorable.
I lead, develop and project manage creative projects with energy and accountability. Flexible and responsive, I adapt my approach to meet the needs of individual assignments/employers.
Photography is my real passion. I am an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and hold a BA in Photomedia and Design Communication from Plymouth College of Art (University of Plymouth).
Integrating photography into a live project is something I am expert in. Having me work on both your design work and the photography is a very efficient and effective way of getting the absolute best results – whilst saving you time and money. But if you have a preferred photographer then no problem, I’m also experienced in art direction and am happy to take the stress of project management out of your hands.
Often a project starts from the ground up – designing a logo (or updating what you already have) is one of the most important jobs I can do for your business. Logo design is a skilled mix of lateral thinking and design execution – and a good logo can make the difference between mediocre success and the big time.
So, you’ve got a logo… how and where are you going to use it? This needs careful consideration, and consistency is key. I am experienced in developing and managing brands within in-house marketing and communications teams – from organic growth to a complete overhaul. I can also help you apply your formulated identity to many difference mediums, from vehicle graphics and banners to corporate stationery and literature, pop-up exhibition displays to promotional flyers and web/social media graphics.
Whilst working with you I spend a lot of time getting to know your business. Often it is difficult to see your own business objectively and sometimes we can not see the wood for the trees… I can help promote parts of your business which perhaps are not achieving as much as they could be. I can help you with advertising campaigns and promotional materials, helping you decide on the next direction of your marketing campaign and providing the print/digital collateral too.
Wedding photography and design
I am passionate about wedding photography – I love the buzz, the fun, the drama, the emotion – seeing two people share one of the best days of their lives with their friends and family.
I’m a natural photographer and I thrive at weddings where I work in a discreet, polite, fun and relaxed manner. I don’t get in the way and I don’t take over the day. I blend into the background, help the day run smoothly (I’m great at keeping an eye on the timings and I always carry safety pins and band aids!!), add to the fun and provide you with images you will treasure for a lifetime.
Whilst I’m happy to just provide you with a disc of all your photos, many of my clients choose to have a wedding album or photobook – and this is something which I do with great creative flair. Whether it’s a traditional album with prints, or a modern interpretation of the ‘coffee table book’, I will work with you to create a very special keepsake. Parents of the bride/groom books are also very popular and can start from as little as £95. For a full list of prices and available services, please email me.
I’ve even had parents of the bride and groom ask me to create photobooks from their own wedding images! Adept at image enhancement and restoration, I can scan your old photos and give them a new lease of life.
And if you’re thinking about bespoke stationery, no problem! Just get in touch and we can discuss what you might like.
