I circumnavigated Iceland by 4WD in late August/early September 2001. It proved to be one of my best trips – ever. Iceland is a stunning country with exceptional landscapes and geographical phenomena, as a photographer I was truly spoilt for choice. The whole trip was a fantastic experience and nothing will beat driving through lava fields or watching icebergs form (although having said that, I have yet to photograph an erupting volcano or wild brown bears!).
The natural wonders of the incredible geology of Iceland were simply stunning – I’m not sure my photographs really do them justice though, and one of the biggest photographic challenges was to find a visual marker to give a sense of scale. I got to see at first hand the raw power and beauty of Mother Nature at work, and, as you will probably notice, the trip appears to have revealed a personal love of waterfalls…
